Schools have a duty to ‘create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British Values of Democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.'

At Victory Park we aspire to ensure that British Values run through everything we do.

Democracy
As our pupil’s progress through the school our curriculum emphasises many aspects of democracy.
The school has an active elected Pupil Voice.

Rule of Law

We aspire to support our students in a caring community, that facilitates learning, personal development and that every member feels valued and belongs.

To provide high quality facilities and support networks

To ensure this is realised, school values that are understood are important. Pupils regularly discuss aspects of behaviour, both within class and when appropriate, with adults across the school.

Through our curriculum, assemblies and reflective conversations students are supported to have a clear understanding of standard of behaviour that we aspire to in our school.

The school manages behaviour positively; we use a range of rewards, such as praise, positive points and celebration assemblies to share success. There are sanctions within our behaviour policy to be used where necessary and there are occasions where we personalise a support programme for pupils in consultation with their key adults and family.

Individual Liberty
Pupils opinions are respected; with many opportunities to be shared
We take collective responsibility to ensure that individual liberties are respected.
We run a comprehensive range of interventions to ensure all learners can achieve their potential.
We allow our pupils into school half an hour before the start of the school day to start their learning.
We have a comprehensive range of enrichment opportunities for all our students.

Mutual Respect
It is a primary aim of our school that every member of the school community feels valued and respected, and that each person is treated fairly and well. Each week we have a ‘Celebration Assembly’ within which we recognise pupils for a number of different reasons.
Our pupils have many talents that we showcase through a range of opportunities and platforms.
We actively support charitable causes and have raised money for a variety of causes, locally and nationally.

Tolerance
At Victory Park Academy we educate pupils from a range of backgrounds and from many different communities. We are a caring community who aim to promote an environment where everyone feels happy, safe and secure. Discrimination isn't tolerated and is dealt with quickly. Every member of the school community is encouraged to behave in a considerate way towards others.
We treat all children equally and aim to help children to grow in a safe and secure environment, and to become positive, responsible and increasingly independent members of the school community.
Our PHSE curriculum equips the pupils to negotiate, share and co-operate and our RE curriculum teaches the pupils about the beliefs of many religions. We have woven through other opportunities to develop appreciate of differences and to learn about the lives of others.
